In April pregnant women and parents of new babies will have additional rights with regards to maternity pay and leave. To help local employers and new parents, Brighton-based law firm martin searle solicitors is running a free advice line for anyone worried about their rights and responsibilities with regards to pregnancy, maternity leave and return to work issues.
martin searle solicitors’ director Fiona Martin explains: “We first offered this service in 2005 as part of our involvement with the Equal Opportunities Commission’s pregnant and productive campaign. We are still encountering this type of discrimination claim. Pregnancy and maternity discrimination continues to cause a great deal of stress and upset to working women and can result in employers losing valuable staff. We want to help employers understand the new rules and ensure pregnant women and maternity returners in the South East get a fair deal.”
For free and confidential advice employers and employees can call martin searle solicitors’ pregnancy and maternity legal helpline on 01273 609911 every Tuesday evening in March 2007 (5.30pm to 8pm) and Saturday, March 24th 10am to 1pm. Or email us.
As well as reintroducing this free advice line, martin searle solicitors is also running a free maternity issues legal update seminar for employers on Thursday, March 15, 2007. Full details can be found at www.ms-solicitors.co.uk. To register email Fiona Martin.
