Making Sense of Employment Law – Employment Lawyers for Employees

martin searle solicitors making sense of employment law

We recognise employees have different requirements. We can assist you in negotiating the best possible employment terms, including salary, benefits, restraint of trade clauses, service and consultancy agreements.

Where an employee requires advice due to unfair treatment by an employer, we will work with you to ensure your workplace is a fairer place to be. We will always offer the best solution for you, which may include bringing an Employment Tribunal claim or negotiating a settlement on your behalf.

What will it cost?

We recognise solicitors’ charges can leave people feeling they have no access to the law. Often they go without help until the problem is critical. At martin searle solicitors we are committed to providing expert advice at affordable rates.

Before making an appointment we will determine whether you qualify for publicly funded legal advice or legal expenses insurance. We we do not offer publicly funded legal advice, but may be able to help on a no-win, no-fee basis if you cannot afford to or do not want to pay the hourly rate. The hourly rate differs depending on who is acting for you and is billed monthly.

We then offer every client an initial discounted fixed fee one hour interview (£150 plus VAT). During the interview we will advise you on your employment rights and the merits of any complaint against your employer. In many cases this may enable you to take the next steps yourself. If it is necessary to instruct us to do further work after the initial interview, we will discuss funding rates appropriate to your financial circumstances.

Discrimination services

Our team is particularly interested in workplace discrimination and has a great deal of experience in this area. We can advise and represent you – where necessary – if you feel you have been discriminated against. For example, you may have been refused a job or been dismissed because you are pregnant or had problems returning to work after your baby is born. Or perhaps you are being treated less favourably because of your religion, sexual orientation or age.
