HR Matters Group – 25 January 2018
HR Matters is a bi-monthly HR forum for business owners, HR managers, directors and employees responsible for personnel issues, who work in any sector.
Fiona Martin, director and head of employment law, coordinates HR Matters and promotes best practice.
Hiring employees or taking on self-employed workers?
In this session Fiona will provide practical and legal information to enable you to make an informed decision as to whether to employ someone or to hire a freelancer.
By the end of this session you will understand:
• the difference between an employee, a worker and a self-employed contractor
• the tax rules so that your company is not liable for any underpayment
• employment law legislation that applies to workers as well as employees.
