Keeping Busy In Eastbourne: Positive Employment Law Outcomes
The past 2 months have seen our employment department working for employers and employees to ensure positive outcomes for our Eastbourne clients.
We negotiated settlements for four employees.
- Almost 6 months’ losses and an agreed reference for a salesman who was made redundant without a fair redundancy process
- Almost 12 months’ losses and an agreed reference for a school employee who resigned and claimed constructive dismissal after suffering age discrimination and bullying
- 8 months’ losses and an agreed reference for an employee who resigned in the course of a heated argument with his employer, following a campaign of bullying by his Managing Director
- Over 9 months’ losses and an agreed reference for an employee who was made redundant just days after she complained about discrimination
We also helped a local law firm resolve their employee’s grievance taken out whilst on maternity leave. We helped our employer client investigate her grievance and prepared their response, having guided them on pregnancy and maternity discrimination law. This avoided an appeal and a potential maternity discrimination and constructive dismissal in the Employment Tribunal. Also, by nipping these issues in the bud at an early stage we were able to ensure that their employee stayed with the firm and the costs, stress and reputational harm associated with Employment Tribunal claims were avoided.
In addition we assisted an employer make an employee redundant. The employee had very little work and was raising grievances against the company. Their employee did not appeal their dismissal
