New Eastbourne Office For Martin Searle Solicitors

Ian Maull

Ian Maull

We’re proud to announce the official launch of our new Eastbourne office, offering specialist advice on community care law as well as employment law advice for both employers and employees. Our new office in Hyde Gardens will provide our growing firm with a permanent base from which to advise both businesses and individuals.

Nicola Grover, a long-time Eastbourne resident, will be leading the community care law services in the new office. Before entering the law in 2007, Nicola was a care worker at a retirement home and helped with care in the community, giving her valuable experience and insight into the needs of older people and their families.

Nicola works mainly with older clients, providing specialist advice in areas such as the safeguarding of vulnerable adults, obtaining power of attorney, and securing NHS Continuing Healthcare funding. She will be working under the guidance of Cate Searle, a director of Martin Searle Solicitors and a national expert on community care law.

Nicola said:

“For elderly people and their families having to fight care home funding decisions, being able to meet with a legal advisor close by is extremely important. We are already representing people in Eastbourne and now they can see us at a time that suits them, rather than having to spend hours on the road.”

Alongside the community care specialism, the employment law services in Eastbourne will be lead by Fiona Martin, also a director of the firm and head of the employment team. Fiona is an accredited mediator and member of the Eastbourne and District Chamber of Commerce, and is looking forward to the challenges on offer in Eastbourne.

Fiona said:

“East Sussex is home to more than 20,000 businesses that employ hundreds of thousands of people; a community that we want to be at the heart of to ensure the prosperity of both. Employment disputes can be very time-consuming, which is why we work closely with our clients to minimise the risk of conflict and to speedily resolve any that arise. Being on the doorstep of the Eastbourne community makes perfect sense.”

Martin Searle Solicitors have a long history of community involvement and in 2012 gave over 120 hours of free legal advice to organisations such as Age UK, The Carers Centre and the Alzheimer’s Society. We are proud of our achievements in this area and plan to expand on our efforts.

Fiona added:

“Although we’re a growing law firm, everyone is determined that we remain a niche practice with a community-based team who do what they do best. Our lawyers in Eastbourne are absolutely passionate about getting involved and serving the local area.”
