Law Society Webinar For Professional Deputies – All You Need To Know About Paying for Care
On 19 October, I presented a webinar for The Law Society, setting out Everything Professional Deputies Need To Know About Paying for Care and Addressing the Office of the Public Guardian Standards which is available to download.
Since the introduction of the Care Act 2014, an understanding of the principles of Community Care Law and public law is now more crucial than ever before to ensure the best financial and personal outcomes for vulnerable clients, their families and their carers.
In July 2015, the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) issued new guidance to ensure that all Professional and Local Authority Deputies meet these standards. In March 2017, the OPG published their good practice guide for Professional Attorneys.
This Law Society webinar can be downloaded by account holders through The Law Society Personal Development Centre. There is no fee to register and the cost of this webinar is £45.
This covers:
- The Practical and Legal Context of Paying for Health and Social Care
• Examples when your client is not responsible for paying any or all of their care costs
• Other Sources of Funding that may assist a person with care needs
• How the Paying for Care rules work
• Choice of Care Home and Top Ups
• Paying for Care other than in a Care Home
• Deferred Payment Agreements
• Disputes with Social Services including Deprivation of Capital allegations
My presentation will enhance your knowledge of Community Care Law issues to help your clients achieve the best possible outcomes.
