Locum Employment Lawyer – Employed or Self Employed

Location: Remote (UK) and/or based in Brighton office

Start date: ASAP

Level: Employment Lawyer with 5+ years’ experience of litigated employment law cases

Fee: Percentage of paid billing or employed for a fixed term on a salary commensurate with experience

Time commitment: Full time is desirable but part-time will also be considered

We are looking for a Locum Employment Law Solicitor or Fellow of Chartered Institute of Legal Executives to help us deal with a huge influx of new cases. These are mainly from employees who have complex discrimination claims.

We mainly act for employees but also act for best practice employers, across the full range of employment issues. We have a national reputation for campaigning for equality in the workplace running campaigns such as Mind The Bump to prevent pregnancy and maternity discrimination and Disability Matters to prevent disability discrimination. We also defend discrimination claims.

You will be an excellent communicator who can convert new enquiries into paying clients because of your ability to show your breadth of specialist employment law experience when providing advice. You will be able to take on complex discrimination claims. You will also advise on the fairness of compensation offered under a Settlement Agreement and if necessary, assist in raising a formal grievance and Subject Access Request in order to obtain a higher compensatory sum. It is essential you are able to sign off Settlement Agreements.

Being a good team player is a must. You’ll also need to be proficient with IT and case management systems, and able to carry out your own advocacy to at least Case Management stage.
