Working Rights
Understanding your rights as a worker or employee
Work time can represent a significant part of your life. As such, you need to be aware of your rights, and how to enforce them, to ensure you are happy, secure and confident at work. You don’t have to be a fully fledged employee to have rights in the workplace. Workers have rights too.
Your working rights include:
- Being given a fair chance at interview and job selection stage
- Receiving written particulars of employment (employee only)
- A safe and healthy working environment
- Working Time Regulations and Holiday
- Minimum Wage
- The right not to be discriminated against
- Your right to apply for flexible working (employee only)
- Your right to maternity leave and pay/paternity leave and pay/parental leave and to return to the same job (employee only)
- Contractual rights
- Right to a pension; &
- The right not to be dismissed unfairly (employee only)
All of your rights are set out in UK Employment Law and are there for your protection.
We are here to help workers and employees whose rights aren’t being acknowledged. If you need advice about your Employment Law rights, contact us today on 01273 609911, or email info@ms-solicitors.co.uk.
