December’s guest speaker will be Liz Barnes of Envoca, who will be exploring the idea of employer branding and how you can make your brand work for your business.

Here’s what Liz has to say about the session:

A spoonful of marketing helps the employer brand go down

How’s and whys of building a powerful employer value proposition

It’s been said that Marketing and HR haven’t always made the closest of bedfellows, as perhaps – marketing people are from Mars and HR are from Venus! Do you agree? Or perhaps you’ve developed a strong healthy working relationship – we’d love to hear your tips on how to strategize harmoniously.

We all know how important it has become to ‘market’ ourselves as good employers due to talent shortages and discerning, hyper informed job applicants in order to attract and retain staff. And in our almost fully connected world, our staff can communicate quicker through their own social channels about important company information than we could ever hope to.

A strong, resilient Employer Brand is now an important asset of significant value to customers, shareholders and employees alike. But what does a good Employer Brand look like and how is it achieved?

Should ‘marketing’ be taken like a medicine, a pill to help the Employer Brand stand on its own two feet? Or should marketing and HR work together to build a coherent Employer Value Proposition which expresses everything the company does?

In this interactive session you’ll discover and debate:

  • What’s all the fuss about the Employer Brand? Trends and new paradigms
  • The benefits of having a strong Employer Value Proposition
  • Who owns the Employer Brand? And who cares?!
  • Why marketing tools, techniques and expertise help build the Employer Brand
  • What might hinder Employer Branding?
  • The marketing tools you’ll need – reputation management, differentiation, positioning, identity and brand development, communications strategy and tools, research, feedback
  • Desired behaviours and practical ways that you can encourage staff to ‘live the brand’
  • Employer Branding – are you ready? A checklist to keep you on track

Round table discussion and debate

We’ll have some concepts, frameworks and ideas provided by our speaker and then we’ll share our ideas around specific questions. Get ready to debate the how’s, why’s, who’s, when’s and what’s of Employer Branding and how you can make it work for your business.
