At 6am on Friday 11 September we set out on our third annual Dawn of Hope sponsored walk. Since 2024, we have run Dawn of Hope to raise funds and awareness for Grassroots Suicide Prevention and the vital work that they do in our community. Dawn of Hope was initiated by our Office Manager Amy O’Shea, because of her own personal experience of suicide. We are proud to sponsor this event as a firm and to support causes that are important to our staff and clients.
Over 40 people took part in the walk, including members of our team, representatives from Grassroots Suicide Prevention, local businesses, and members of the public. We set off eastwards along the seafront, walking into the sunrise, before finishing the walk at Brighton Marina. There was then a reception at Malmaison where attendees had a well-earned breakfast and we heard moving speeches from Amy and from Rachael Swann, CEO of Grassroots Suicide Prevention.
So far, we have raised over £2,300 for Grassroots Suicide Prevention for this sponsored walk. Further donations can be made on our JustGiving page. We have also nominated Grassroots Suicide Prevention as our chosen charity, and invite our clients to donate any outstanding balances in their client account in order to support Grassroots’ important work.
Amy says; “It’s a beautifully sad thing to see so many people turn up to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Hearing what has brought them out on the day is incredibly touching and a reminder to us all as to how important it is to raise funds and awareness. Hopefully, this event will grow each year and will help end the stigma around suicide and mental health issues”.
